What stays on your device
Your selected answers, results, tensions, and saved Atlas journeys are stored locally on your device. A Map of Belief does not require an account, and signing in does not upload your theological answers.
You can review, export, delete individual journeys, or delete all local history from My Atlas. Removing browser or app storage may also erase that history.
Anonymous operational analytics
On first use, the app asks whether you want to share anonymous activity. Nothing in this category is sent unless you choose to enable it. When enabled, the app may record one page view for the visit and that a mode was started, completed, paused, resumed, or that a diagnostic was shared. These events can include the mode and number of questions, but they do not include the answers you selected or your resulting tradition.
You can change that choice in My Atlas. The app does not use an advertising identifier and does not sell your information or use it for cross-app advertising.
Our application does not record keystrokes, replay browsing sessions, or send the contents of profile forms to an analytics service. Keyboard events used for navigation and accessibility are not recorded. Optional activity events expire after 395 days (about 13 months), with expired events removed on the next activity-reporting or owner-report request.
Optional diagnostic sharing
If you deliberately choose “Share this run for diagnostic review,” that one saved run is sent for quality review. It can include the question identifiers, your responses, displayed results, alignment details, and any tensions found. It is used to locate unclear premises, weak mappings, or scoring errors.
These answers may reveal sensitive religious or philosophical beliefs. New uploads require a separate confirmation that you are 18 or older and explicitly agree to private diagnostic review by Jesse Killpack. The app records the notice version and server receipt time with the report, and does not attach your profile, email, or session cookie to that upload. Hosting providers still process the network request; we do not promise that removing account fields makes every report fully anonymous.
Wonder Path diagnostic uploads are disabled; its answers remain on the device. Other diagnostic reports expire 90 days after receipt and are deleted on the next diagnostic-upload or owner-report request. Reports submitted before this policy update expire 90 days after October 19, 2026; we do not treat their earlier sharing as consent to any new purpose.
The saved journey shows a diagnostic deletion reference after sharing. To withdraw diagnostic consent and request deletion, email amapofbeliefsupport@gmail.com with that reference. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. Keep the reference before clearing local history; without it, we may need the approximate date and mode and may be unable to reliably identify the report. Deleting a local journey or profile does not automatically delete a separately submitted diagnostic.
Optional profiles
Adults may optionally create a profile using Sign in with ChatGPT or a one-time code sent by email. With ChatGPT sign-in, OpenAI provides A Map of Belief with a stable account identifier, email address, and—when available—the account name. With email sign-in, Resend delivers a six-digit code from amapofbelief.com. A Map of Belief stores only a protected form of the short-lived code and session token; the code expires after 10 minutes and the device session after 30 days.
A Map of Belief does not receive or store a ChatGPT or email password. We store the profile identifier, email address, an optional display name, Atlas-access status, and the date and success or miss from each first official Daily Destination attempt. We do not store the route or answers from that game. Resend receives the destination email address and message contents needed to deliver a requested sign-in code.
You can sign out or delete your profile from its page. Deleting a profile also deletes its Daily Destination statistic, but does not remove journeys stored in your browser; those can be deleted separately from My Atlas. Signing in does not copy theological answers into the profile.
New profiles require an 18-or-older self-confirmation; we do not ask for or verify your birth date. Profile and Daily Destination records remain while the profile exists. Sign-in codes stop working after 10 minutes and are removed after successful verification, exhausted attempts, or expired-code cleanup. Sessions stop working after 30 days. Expired codes, sessions, and request-limit records older than 24 hours are cleaned up when another sign-in code is requested. Code-request protection uses keyed hashes of email and network address, not a plain-text IP address stored by the app.
Sign-in emails are transactional, not newsletter subscriptions. We do not use your sign-in address for marketing. Payment and email providers may retain their own transaction, delivery, security, or legally required records after an app profile is deleted.
Optional lifetime Atlas purchase
If you buy lifetime Atlas access, Stripe Managed Payments processes the one-time payment, with Link acting as merchant of record. A Map of Belief stores Stripe customer and payment identifiers plus the access status needed to unlock the feature. It does not receive or store your full card number, and this purchase does not automatically renew.
All game modes remain free. Payment unlocks the Complete Atlas and Explorer Index for the attached profile. It does not influence a question, route, score, result, or theological conclusion. A full refund or payment dispute removes the paid access.
Other information
If you email support, the information you choose to include is used to answer your request. Like most hosted services, the website host may process ordinary technical request information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as network and device request data.
The public version has no cloud synchronization, advertising, or third-party advertising tracker. If those practices change, this policy will be updated before the change is released.
Families and younger explorers
A Map of Belief is made for a general audience. Wonder Path is designed for adults and younger explorers to use together, and it does not ask a child to create an account or provide a name, age, email address, location, photo, or open-ended message. A trusted adult should guide a younger user when opening outside sources or contacting support.
Privacy rights and service providers
Jesse Killpack, operating A Map of Belief in Utah, United States, is responsible for the app’s collection described here. Contact amapofbeliefsupport@gmail.com to request access, correction, an export, deletion, or withdrawal of optional consent. We may ask for proportionate verification before disclosing or changing account information. You can decline activity reporting, play without a profile, and keep diagnostics local.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on providing the service you request for account sign-in and access, legitimate interests for proportionate security and abuse prevention, applicable legal obligations for required records, and consent for optional activity reporting. New sensitive diagnostic uploads additionally require explicit consent. Rights may include objection, restriction, portability, and a complaint to your local data protection authority, subject to the applicable conditions.
Service providers include OpenAI Sites and its hosting infrastructure (including Cloudflare) for delivery and storage, OpenAI for optional ChatGPT sign-in, Resend for sign-in email, and Stripe/Link for checkout. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries. Privacy requests can include questions about providers and applicable international-transfer arrangements. We do not claim that a provider’s involvement alone establishes GDPR compliance.
We do not sell personal information, use advertising pixels, or perform cross-site behavioral advertising. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not enable or override optional analytics consent; analytics remain off unless you choose to enable them. Outside resources you deliberately open have their own privacy practices.
